Blessing Box

In our effort to better serve the community, particularly those who are hungry, Calvary will be installing a Blessing Box, or a mini food pantry. The idea, suggested by a Calvary member Carey Wooten and approved by the Vestry, will be the 1st year project for the Church Development Institute (CDI) team consisting of Donna Becton, Dianne Hall and Linda Kidd.

The box was special ordered and custom made. It resembles a church, complete with a cross on top. It is 16 inches wide, 14 inches deep, 30 inches tall and has 2 shelves. The box is placed close to the Mustard Seed House. In keeping with the Mustard Seed Ministry, it is painted a color similar to the color of the Mustard Seed House. The box is always unlocked and can be used by anyone.

Glass doors allow users to view the contents which will consist of non-perishable food items and toiletries. The message for users reads:
“Take what you need – Leave what you can.”

It is our hope that Calvary members will bring items to place in the box, but also neighbors, community members and users will contribute as well. Please search your pantry/cabinets now for any items you can contribute and let’s make this ministry a success.  We try to keep our food Blessing Box full. We refill at least every other day. We depend on your contributions of canned & non-perishable food items!
