CDI TRAINING

The Church Development Institute (CDI) trainees for this training cycle have completed their first year. Donna Becton, Dianne Hall, and Linda Kidd completed the first year of training in May. The training is a 2 year program designed to: “equip and assist parishioners to build up their capacities and skills through self awareness of one’s personal impact on others and the organization; to increase knowledge of theories, methods and processes as a way to assess and understand the behavior and development of the congregation; and to give a safe learning environment where one can practice skills in facilitation, feedback, listening and presenting”.

Class of 2018 with trainers

Previously attended by Elise Miller and Carey Wooten, the training is open to anyone interested. The training is on a 2 year cycle and consists of 4 weekend sessions per year, held in December, January, March and concluding in May. All training sessions are held at Honey Creek and start on Friday at lunch and conclude on Saturday afternoons. The cycle begins with the December session. A special project that will benefit the church is required each year. The first year’s project for this team will be the installation of a Blessing Box. The project for the 2nd year will center around Calvary’s 2nd annual Blue Christmas service and will include a presentation/workshop on grief which will be open to the public and will be in conjunction with the service. Look for more details for this project.

Trainers are priests from around the diocese including Rev.Walter Hobgood, June Johnson, Lonnie Lacey, Denise Ronn; and our own Carey Wooten who was invited to be a lay trainer.

Please consider representing Calvary at this interesting and worthwhile training. To learn more about CDI, visit the diocesan website at georgia.anglican.org and click on Leadership.
